Today I’m going to share a little kitchen tip with you that will change your life.  A little dramatic you say?  Probably so, but not if you struggle to safely cut an avocado.  Removing the avocado seed has long been a dilemna.  Should I whack it with a knife (and risk losing a finger)?  Or try to scoop around the seed with a spoon, wasting yummy avocado goodness in the process?  This kitchen tip removes the risk factor and also leaves you with beautiful pieces of avocado to slice or dice as your heart desires.  Are you ready to cut an avocado?  Let’s get to it, shall we?

1.  Wash the avocado first.  Using a large, sharp knife, pierce the avocado and gently press the knife until you reach the seed.  Carefully rotate the avocado around the knife, making a complete cut.  Raise the knife, rotate the avocado a quarter turn and make another complete cut around the circumference.

2.  Gently twist the avocado halves in opposing directions.  The seed will remain in one half.

3.  Holding the half with the seed, gently twist the quarters in opposing directions. You should now have 4 pieces, one with the seed still attached. How to Cut an Avocado | A Reinvented Mom 4.  The seed should now release easily.

5.  The peel is very easy to remove now, too.  Simply lift up one end and pull the peel away from the avocado.  Chop or slice as desired. How to Cut & Peel an Avocado | A Reinvented Mom
