Glazed Cherry Pie Bars Recipe
Classic Cherry Pie Bars combine a simple homemade crust with ready-made pie filling & vanilla glaze. A delicious treat for dessert, snack or brunch.

Cookie Base

cup
unsalted butter
(2 sticks), softened
2
cups
white granulated sugar
4
large eggs
room temperature
1
teaspoon
pure almond extract
3
cups
all-purpose flour
1
teaspoon
salt
2
cans
cherry pie filling
(21 oz each)
Glaze
1
cup
powdered sugar
2-3
tablespoons
milk or cream
1/4
teaspoon
clear vanilla extract
Instructions
Cookie Base Dough
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Spray
15x10x1 baking pan
with non-stick cooking spray.
In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar.
Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Stir in almond extract.
In a small bowl, combine flour and salt. Add to creamed mixture & mix until combined.
Spread about 3 cups of dough evenly into baking pan.
Spread pie filling evenly over batter.
Using a teaspoon, drop remaining batter on top of the pie filling.
Bake for 30 – 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Cool on
rack

Glaze
Combine powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons milk and clear vanilla extract. Add remaining milk as needed.
Drizzle glaze over cooled bars.
Cut bars and serve.
Notes
Clear vanilla extract will give the glaze a bright white color. Standard vanilla tastes the same but makes the glaze a bit darker.
Store leftovers in an
airtight container
.
