Glazed Cherry Pie Bars Recipe

Classic Cherry Pie Bars combine a simple homemade crust with ready-made pie filling & vanilla glaze. A delicious treat for dessert, snack or brunch.

Cookie Base

  • 1 cup unsalted butter (2 sticks), softened
  • 2 cups white granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon pure almond extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cans cherry pie filling (21 oz each)



Cookie Base Dough

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Spray 15x10x1 baking pan with non-stick cooking spray.
  • In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar.
  • Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  • Stir in almond extract.
  • In a small bowl, combine flour and salt. Add to creamed mixture & mix until combined.
  • Spread about 3 cups of dough evenly into baking pan.
  • Spread pie filling evenly over batter.
  • Using a teaspoon, drop remaining batter on top of the pie filling.
  • Bake for 30 – 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Cool on rack.


  • Combine powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons milk and clear vanilla extract. Add remaining milk as needed.
  • Drizzle glaze over cooled bars.
  • Cut bars and serve.


  • Clear vanilla extract will give the glaze a bright white color. Standard vanilla tastes the same but makes the glaze a bit darker.
