16-ouncejar of maraschino cherrieschopped (reserve the juice)
GLAZE
½cuppowdered sugar
½teaspoonmaraschino cherry juice
1tablespoonmilk
Instructions
BREAD
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt in a large mixing bowl. Set aside.
In a medium bowl, combine the granulated sugar, brown sugar & egg until combined. Add buttermilk, oil, vanilla, and almond extract and mix until just combined.
Slowly add the wet ingredients to the flour mixture. Gently mix until combined.
Fold in chopped cherries until evenly distributed.
Pour batter into a greased 9x5 loaf pan.
Bake for 55-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
GLAZE
Whisk the powdered sugar, cherry juice, and milk together until thoroughly combined.
Rotate the bread pan halfway through baking, to ensure the loaf browns evenly. If it's browning too quickly, loosely cover the loaf with a piece of foil and continue baking until done.
Double the glaze recipe if you prefer a thicker glaze.
