Impress your guests with these festive Jell-o shots. Easy to make and perfect for the 4th of July celebrations, they add a patriotic splash to any party.
Place the 2-ounce cups on a baking tray and set aside.
Heat 1 cup of water, just until boiling.
Combine the blue jello powder and hot water in a medium bowl and whisk together until the powder dissolves. Add 1 cup of vodka, stirring to incorporate.
Fill each of the cups about 1/3 of the way full with the blue mixture. Place the tray of jello cups into the refrigerator and chill until set (about 1 ½ hours).
Once the blue layer is set, prepare the white layer by heating ½ cup water just until boiling. In a medium bowl, combine the unflavored gelatin powder with the hot water, whisking together until the powder dissolves.
Add ½ cup vodka, 8 ounces sweetened condensed milk, and the coconut extract to the gelatin mixture. Stir well to combine.
Carefully add the white gelatin to each of the cups, filling the cups about 2/3 way full. Place the tray of cups back into the refrigerator to chill until set.
Once the white layer has set, prepare the red layer by heating 1 cup of water just until boiling. Combine the red jello powder and hot water in a medium bowl and stir until the powder dissolves. Add the remaining cup of vodka, stirring to combine.
Fill each of the cups with the red jello mixture. Make sure to leave a little room at the top if you plan to seal with the lids. Return the tray of shots to the refrigerator to chill until fully set. Keep refrigerated until ready to serve.
When ready to serve, you can garnish with whipped cream, maraschino cherries and sprinkles if preferred.
Notes
Can swap out flavored vodka for the plain, or try a different flavor for each layer.
Make sure to allow time for each layer to set up completely before adding the next layer. Additionally, allow the liquid to cool slightly before topping the previous layer.
Make a non-alcoholic version by swapping the vodka for an equal amount of water or juice.
Wait to add the garnishes until right before serving.
Store jell-o shots in the refrigerator, covered, for up to 5 days.
Optional garnishes are not included in the Nutritional information.
