It may have been awhile since you tried making potato wedges from scratch. For one, itโs pretty easy to grab a bag from the frozen section. But I promise, once you see how easy these are to make you’ll never go back to frozen.

Each batch is cooked perfectly in the air fryer, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. You can even switch up the seasonings to make other flavors (we’ve included a few of our faves below).
For those who canโt say no to potatoes, but love simple recipes, be sure to try my homemade chips, diced potatoes, and twice baked potatoes (which will become your new addiction!).

How to Cut the Perfect Potato Wedge
After you have cleaned and dried the potatoes, trim off the ends.
Cut them in half lengthwise. Then flip the sweet potato over so itโs cut side down on the cutting board.
Starting at the outer edge, angle your knife and cut so the slices have a wedge look. I like to start on one side, and work my way across to the other side.
How to Make Air Fryer Sweet Potato Wedges
Clean the potatoes and pat dry. Cut into wedges and place them in a large bowl.
Preheat the air fryer to 380 degrees F.ย
Drizzle the wedges with oil. Combine the spices in a small bowl, then sprinkle over the sweet potatoes. Toss to coat the wedges evenly.
Lightly coat the basket with oil (I use an oil mister). Add the seasoned wedges to the greased air fryer basket in a single layer.
Cook for 15 to 18 minutes, flipping them at the halfway point.
Dunk in your favorite dipping sauce and serve alongside Ground Beef Philly Cheesesteak Sliders or Million Dollar Chicken Bake.
Tips for Making
- While we like to leave the skin on, you can peel them if preferred.
- Choose potatoes that are similar in size for even cooking. Also, try to slice the wedges evenly when prepping.
- Use a parchment paper liner for easy cleanup but wait until the air fryer has preheated before placing it in the basket.
- Depending on the size of your air fryer, you may need to cook in batches.
- If you need to cook in batches, keep the first batch warm by placing them in the oven on a baking sheet at 220 degrees F until you’re done cooking.
Seasoning Ideas
Feeling adventurous? Try these options for different flavored seasonings on your homemade potato wedges.
Everything But The Bagel – this blend comes premixed so you can sprinkle it directly onto the wedges.
Ranch – add a ranch seasoning packet (the kind you use to make dip with).
Garlic parmesan – use garlic powder or a little minced garlic when seasoning along with a couple spoonfuls of grated parm.
Rosemary and thyme – for those who love herbs this combo is perfect!
Spicy – add a dash of cayenne pepper and/or smoked paprika to the mix for a little heat.
How to Store and Reheat
These air fryer sweet potato wedges are best when eaten fresh, but you can store the leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
To reheat, place the wedges back in the air fryer and heat for 5 minutes at 350 degrees F.
Microwaving is not recommended because the potatoes get soggy.

Air Fryer Sweet Potato Wedges
Ingredients
- 2 pounds (2-3) sweet potatoes,, cleaned and cut into wedges
- 2 1/2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 teaspoons coarse salt
- 2 teaspoons onion powder
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- additional oil for cooking
- fresh parsley, chopped for garnish, optional
Instructions
- Clean the sweet potatoes and pat dry. Cut potatoes into wedges and place in a large mixing bowl.
- Preheat air fryer to 380 degrees F.
- Drizzle sweet potato wedges with olive oil.
- Combine spices in a small bowl and sprinkle over potatoes. Toss to evenly coat.
- Lightly grease the basket and add potato wedges, taking care not to crowd the basket so theyโll cook evenly.
- Cook for 15-18 minutes, turning at the halfway point.
Notes
- We prefer to leave the skins on but you can peel them if preferred.
- Try to cut the wedges in similarly sized pieces for even cooking.
- For crispy wedges, make sure to allow space in between the potatoes so air can circulate and they cook evenly. You may need to cook in batches depending on the size of your air fryer basket.
- If cooking in batches: remove cooked potatoes from the basket and place on a baking sheet in a 220 degree F oven to keep warm. Continue cooking remaining wedges.
- Best eaten fresh but cooled leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. Reheat in the air fryer at 350 degrees F for 5 minutes. We donโt recommend using the microwave to reheat – they come out soggy.
