A snack lover’s dream, Bunny Bait Trail Mix is a blend of popcorn, pretzels, 2 kinds of chocolate and…sprinkles. Everything is better with sprinkles!

Anyone ready for Spring? Are you tired of the cold weather? And all the snow? It’s been a long, wacky winter here in the Colorado high country.

We’ve had an abundance of snowfall, cold temps, cloudy days and avalanches. Heck, we even got hit with a weather bomb cyclone. Good times, people, good times.

I am ready for Spring! I want warmer temperatures. And sunshine. Bring it on!

I can’t change the weather but I can make my own sunshine by whipping up a batch of Bunny Bait Trail Mix. Take that Winter!

Snack mixes are popular in the A Reinvented Mom household. I would even go so far as to say we are snack mix addicts. We love them so much that I have to prepare double and triple batches if I expect them to last more than a day. For reals.

This Bunny Bait recipe is a favorite Spring and Easter snack. The pretty colors of the pastel M&Ms and sprinkles are so cheery. What a tasty way to brighten your day!

Serve it up in a big bowl or package in decorative cello bags for treats. And don’t forget to leave a bowl for the Easter bunny. If you’re on the hunt for non-candy Easter Basket ideas for your teens and tweens, I’ve compiled a list of my favorite basket ideas.

Ingredients Needed to Make Easter Snack Mix

  • A lightly salted popcorn works well because the salt is a nice complement to the sweet chocolate. Use homemade popcorn or buy microwave popcorn at the store – I like Pop Secret Homestyle for this recipe.
  • Smaller, bite-size pretzels work well but use whatever you have on hand. If you are using larger pretzel sticks, break them into smaller pieces for best results.
  • The recipe calls for pastel M&M’s. I’ve swapped them out for Cadbury Mini Eggs a few times. Um, yeah, it’s naughty, but oh soo good. Give it a try!
  • You can find candy coating in the baking section of your grocery store. Colored candy melts can also be used.
  • And……sprinkles! I like the variety of this sprinkle assortment – 6 candies & colored sugars in one convenient package.

Tips for Making The Bunny Bait Recipe

  • Pre-measure all the ingredients before you start preparing the snack mix.
  • If using microwave popcorn prepare it according to package directions. Allow the popped popcorn to cool slightly before removing any duds (aka uncooked kernels).
  • Melt the candy coating in the microwave. Once the coating has melted, be prepared to work quickly.
  • Pour melted chocolate over the popcorn mixture and stir gently.
  • Add the sprinkles before the chocolate hardens. And that happens faaaast.
  • Get your kids involved – Bunny Bait is a fun recipe for kids to help prepare.

Bunny Bait Snack Mix Serving Options

  • Change out the pastel m&ms candies and sprinkles to make this mix for other holidays. Use red, white & blue for patriotic holidays or the traditional red & green for Christmas. Or use what you have on hand for a special treat any day.
  • Use colored candy melts to add additional colors to the mixture.
  • Package the Easter snacks in decorative cello bags for cute take home treats for your guests.
