Ingredients for Air Fryer Chicken Fajitas
Chicken breasts – we are using boneless, skinless. If you’re short on time look for pre-sliced chicken in the meat department.
Bell pepper – choose your favorite variety or a mix of green, yellow, and red
Red onion
Oil – vegetable or avocado
Fajita or Taco Seasoning mix – this is a dry mix that you can find on the Latin food aisle at your local market. You can also make a batch of my Homemade Taco Seasoning.
How To Make Fajitas in the Air Fryer
Start by preheating your air fryer. After it’s reached temperature you’ll want to lightly spray the basket with oil (I use this oil mister) to keep the fajita meat from sticking.
Slice the chicken, onions, and peppers. Then add them to a large mixing bowl and pour the oil on top. Sprinkle with the fajita or taco seasoning and mix until the mixture is coated completely.
Add the chicken and veggies to the air fryer basket and cook for no more than 13-15 minutes. Shake the basket halfway through.
Serve with your favorite toppings. Check out our suggestions below for our favorite ways to serve.
Tips for Making
- Don’t overload the basket or tray. With that being said, you may need to cook in batches depending on how large your air fryer basket is.
- You can also use steak or shrimp in place of the chicken. Or try a combination of meats. If the meats are sliced to a similar size cooking time should be similar.
- For easier cleanup, use parchment paper liners in the bottom of your basket.
How To Store
Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
You can also freeze the cooked fajita mixture for later. Let it cool completely, then add to a freezer bag, seal and place in the freezer for up to 1 month.
Freeze in single serve portions to make meal prepping and lunches easier.
To thaw, defrost in the fridge overnight then use the microwave or air fryer to reheat.
