Anytime we go to a restaurant we check the menu to see if they offer fried pickles. If they’re on the appetizer menu that’s what we order. Every.single.time. What can I say, we are addicted to these zesty little morsels.

All of this to say, these air fried pickle chips rank pretty high on my list because they are so good AND I can make them at home. Thanks to the wonder machine (aka my air fryer) I can make these anytime a craving strikes.
I think one thing that makes my recipe stand apart is my breading. Many people bread their pickles in panko crumbs, which may be a little healthier, but it doesn’t yield the same crispiness and taste as a traditional flour breading.

Ingredients for Air Fryer Pickle Chips
Pickle chips – make sure you get dill flavor, not the sweet kind
Flour – you can use all-purpose or self-rising
Cornstarch – this is the secret ingredient to making them crispy 🙂
Tony Chachere’s Creole seasoning – adds a flavorful kick

How to Make Air Fryer Fried Pickles
Take the pickles out of the jar and pat them dry. Don’t skip this step – it’s helps the coating stick to the pickles.
Preheat your air fryer and set up two bowls for a dredging station. Add the flour, cornstarch, and seasoning to the first one and beat the egg in the second bowl.
Dip each pickle into the flour mixture, then into the egg, then back into the flour.
Line your basket with a parchment paper liner or spray the basket with a light coating of oil.
Add the breaded pickle chips into the basket, in a single layer, making sure they aren’t touching.
Spritz with oil and cook for 7-8 minutes flipping the pickles halfway through.

How Do You Keep Fried Pickles from Getting Soggy?
Making sure that they are dry at the beginning is key! You can also use your salad spinner to dry them off. If they have excess juice left on them, it releases while you are air frying, which causes them to be soggy.
Tips for Making
- Don’t skip drying the pickles – the coating won’t stick if the pickles are wet.
- Cooked pickle chips are best served fresh, but can be stored in the refrigerator for 1-2 days.
- Cook times may vary based on pickle size & thickness and your air fryer model.
- You may need to fry in batches depending on your basket size. You don’t want to crowd the pickles or they won’t crisp up.
- I prefer a thicker pickle chip but you can use a thinner pickle or spears if preferred. Be sure to adjust cooking times if you do.

How to Reheat Leftover Fried Pickles in the Air Fryer
Preheat the air fryer to 350 degrees F. Lightly spritz the basket with oil and place leftover fried pickles in the basket. Reheat for 4-5 minutes.

**Save Air Fried Pickle Chips for Later**
Air Fryer Pickle Chips
Ingredients
- 1 cup dill pickle chips
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon Tony Chachere’s creole seasoning
- 1 egg
Instructions
- Pat the pickle chips dry to remove excess juice.
- Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees F.
- In a shallow bowl, mix the flour, cornstarch and seasoning.
- In a second bowl, beat the egg.
- Dip each pickle chip in the flour mixture, then dredge in the egg wash and finish with another dip in the flour mixture.
- Spritz the air fryer basket with oil or use a parchment liner.
- Place pickle chips in a single layer in the basket and spritz with oil. Be sure to leave a little space between the pickles so they get crispy.
- Cook at 400 degrees F for 5 minutes, flip and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.

- Don’t skip drying the pickles – the coating won’t adhere if the pickles are wet.
- Cook time may vary based on the size and thickness of your pickles and your air fryer model.
- Best served fresh but you can store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
