These make ahead yogurt parfaits with berries and granola are the perfect way to start off your mornings. Each cup is packed with Greek yogurt, crunchy granola, and fresh fruit. But the best part is you can make them ahead of time for a convenient and healthy-ish breakfast.

I’m always on the hunt for meal prep recipes for the mornings, since it’s always a mad dash to get out the door. But it needs to be something easy.

And while you can find premade parfaits at the grocery store and coffee shops they can get expensive fast. Not a good option if you’re on a budget, right?!

So I decided to create my own parfait recipe because it’s cheaper to make them at home. And they’re healthier, as long as you’re mindful of ingredients. But the best part is that you can customize them to your liking.

If you don’t have a favorite store-bought granola, I highly recommend trying my homemade air fryer granola or cinnamon pecan granola.

Ingredients needed to make greek yogurt parfaits with text labels.

Greek Yogurt Parfaits Ingredients

  • Vanilla Greek yogurt – a great choice because of the thicker consistency and it’s less likely to cause the layers to run together.
  • Strawberries and blueberries – be sure they are totally dry before layering.
  • Granola – use your favorite store brand or make it from scratch at home.

How to Make Greek Yogurt Parfaits Ahead of Time

Gather up 6 Mason jars with lids.

Add a cup of granola to each jar.

Then scoop in a quarter cup of yogurt on top.

Repeat the layers, ending with a sprinkle of granola at the top.

Screw on the lids to each jar and refrigerate.

Tips for Making Yogurt Parfaits with Granola and Fruit

  • Make sure the berries are dry – moisture makes the granola soggy.
  • Frozen fruit can be used but you’ll want to thaw and drain it well before adding to the parfaits.
  • The 8-ounce jars make a good breakfast-sized portion. If you’re prepping for snacks or a brunch for friends, use 4-ounce jars.

Recipe Substitutions & Variations

  • Yogurt: Swap vanilla Greek yogurt for plain Greek yogurt or regular yogurt.
  • Fruits: Try raspberries, blackberries, peaches, mango, or cherries.
  • Add-ins: Sweeten with a drizzle of honey or maple syrup. Add chia seeds, shredded coconut, peanut butter, almond butter, or a pinch of cinnamon between layers for more flavor and texture.
  • More protein: Stir a scoop of protein powder into the yogurt before making the parfaits.
  • Extra crunch: Add your favorite chopped nuts after the granola layers.

What to Serve with Make Ahead Yogurt Parfaits

Because these are a little on the sweeter side, I recommend pairing them with a savory dish like ham egg and cheese hash brown casserole or Hawaiian roll breakfast sliders.

How to Store Leftover Homemade Parfaits

Keep the parfaits in the refrigerator, in the sealed Mason jars, for up to 7 days. The berries and granola are the best when eaten within the first 3 days of making because they soften up beyond that (but it doesn’t affect the taste).

Can I make strawberry yogurt parfaits ahead of time?

Absolutely! You can make this recipe up to 3 days in advance. And I recommend it since they are great for meal prep.

Can I make these yogurt parfaits with frozen fruit?

Frozen fruit works, but you’ll want to thaw it first and drain off any extra liquid so your granola doesn’t get too soft.

What size jars should I use for parfaits?

Eight ounce Mason jars are a great size for a single serving breakfast. Use larger jars for making bigger parfaits for a brunch or sharing and smaller jars for a snack-sized portion.

You’re going to want to make this easy parfait recipe on repeat. It’s a budget-friendly breakfast idea that comes together quickly and you can make them in advance. Busy mornings just got a little easier!
